Review - Celtic Moon Club by Gillian Caine

By Sam Stoker

Something a little different to a book review this month, as I find it hard to read so much with having three small witchlings running around (although I have an excellent book review lined up for Bealtaine if I finish the book on time so do keep an eye out for that!); this issue I have focused on a curriculum I dip in and out of with those same witchlings, Celtic Moon Club. Celtic Moon Club was written in whole by Gillian Caine, @thegentlyfeatherednest on Instagram. It is a lovely Pagan-adjacent curriculum following the twelve full moons of the year using their Celtic and Anglo-Saxon names, giving a UK-based feel to a topic often skewed towards North America.

Based in Scotland, Gillian has leant her passion for Gaelic and Celtic heritage towards creating a truly magical in-depth tool with inspiration for celebrating the moon phases whatever your path. Each month contains a story, further information on background, and activity and craft ideas for celebrating alongside beautiful images of Gillian’s personal family lunar celebrations. The curriculum is available as a pdf download from Etsy and is headed up with recipes and craft instructions for items the author uses during the full moon.

My witchlings may be a little distractible but I personally am charmed by the stories, and thoroughly enjoy encouraging interest in the moon, a lifelong love of mine, and we have taken part in a few suggested activities so far with my intention for more ever present.

So far we have enjoyed watching the full moon rise over the cathedral of our small leafy city with some friends also celebrating, eating full moon themed biscuits, and lighting fires in our garden fire pit, surrounding ourselves with candles indoors during the darker months.

I’m excited to link this curriculum in with others we follow and with the Pagan aspects of our education journey, and I would highly recommend the curriculum to anyone whatever their religion or beliefs - there is enough factual information in there to tailor it to individual requirements or utilise in a secular manner if required.

You can find the Celtic Moon Club online at:

Or buy the curriculum from Etsy alongside Gillian’s other offerings, the Celtic Countdown Calendar (which we also loved) and Summer Solstice activity book
